We live in Astoria, and a surprising amount of what makes it good is run by volunteers with no budget and no web person. If that’s you, we will build your site, or shoot your event, for free — no invoice, no upsell.
It depends on time, not on you.
Client work and our own products pay for the roof, so they come first. We would rather tell you up front that we can take something on in a month than say yes now and leave you with a half-finished site. Ask anyway — worst case we point you somewhere useful.
Website, events system, photography
A weekly neighborhood cleanup that is free and open to everyone. We built and maintain their website, plus the system that gets a cleanup from a spreadsheet row onto a public calendar without anyone touching code.
Web application
The pantry had stopped taking new delivery addresses because grouping them into walking and biking routes by hand had become too tedious. We are building a planner that does the grouping, so the limit on deliveries goes back to being volunteers rather than paperwork.
Organizations get judged on whether they look real. Good photos of a cleanup or a street festival do more for a group’s credibility with donors and new members than any amount of copy — so we shoot them and hand the files over.
